List of Desired Behaviors and Character Traits
Teach your kids the character-building traits and social skills they need to be successful and get along with others. We provide you with a list of desired behaviors (character traits). Or you may wish to write your own expectations.
The expectations are written in a positive way so your child learns the correct character expectation. When using character trait expectations, you should try to avoid negative phrases, such as “No” or “Don’t,” at the beginning of the expectation. Using our example, “Control the way you act – No pouting,” instead of, “Don’t pout,” shows your child that pouting is not only something that they shouldn’t do, but by not pouting, they are controlling the way that they act. Your child will soon begin pointing out good character! Begin reinforcing good character now to help your kids be the best they can be!
