Quick Ten Minute Activities

  • Regular Balloons –  Hit it back and forth, but don’t let it hit the floor. You can also count how many times you hit it before it falls to the floor.   For a challenge, hold hands and don't let go, but don't let it hit the floor.
  • Card games
  • Board games
  • Books – Parents read to children or the family can read a book together.
  • Take turns blowing bubbles with one person blowing bubbles and the other trying to catch them.
  • Cut pictures out of magazines and make your own book.
  • Drawing
  • Punch Ball Balloons – Remove the punch string handle and use as a big balloon.  Hit it back and forth, but don’t let it hit the floor. You can also count how many times you hit it before it falls to the floor.
  • Games such as pool, tennis, shooting hoops, air hockey, etc.
  • Go to battle with soft sponge ball play guns.  You won’t believe how hard you laugh!
  • Buy cookie dough – Pull the dough apart and put it on the pan.  Bake and have fun eating it.  You can even dip the cookies in milk.
  • Make paper airplanes and then fly them around the house.
  • Make snowflakes out of white paper.
  • Swing
  • Draw or play games with sidewalk chalk.
  • Have a squirt gun battle.
  • Spray your children with the hose while they run around the yard.
  • Tickle balloon or basketball – While playing with the balloon or basketball, tickle your opponent every time they lift their arms.
  • Make things out of clay or play dough
  • Bug walk (look for different bugs)
  • Bird walk (look for different birds - you could even use an app to make bird sounds to call the birds)
  • Nature walk - look for leaves and things
  • Bike ride
  • Sorting (kids love to sort all different kinds of things - junk, nature things, etc.)
