Incentive OptionsHow often and when to provide incentives?
Some parents may decide to provide incentives. You can do daily or weekly incentives or both. Or another option for the younger children is to receive an incentive when you fill a line with stickers or marks. It is up to you how and if you want to use the incentives. Using Weekly and Daily Incentives If you are using incentives, we suggest that at the beginning of the week, decide with your child what the daily and weekly goals and incentive will be if they get enough marks. For example, you may decide that a good goal to start with is ten points a day and seventy points for the week. You can adjust their goal as necessary. You want children to feel success, so you may need to start out with a smaller goal. The goal is for children to get in the habit of displaying the character traits desired. Incentive Ideas Daily rewards can include things like ten extra minutes of special play time with a parent, playing video games, or a game with a parent. The incentive at the end of the week may be a friend coming over or the family going bowling or staying up late. View our list of easy ideas for Incentives. |
